Yonex Astrox 99 Racket - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Question 1

What made the original Astrox 99 Sunshine Orange so legendary?

Accepted Answer

The Astrox 99 1st Gen was the first racket to integrate Namd graphite into the entire frame and shaft. This doubled shuttle contact time, transferring unmatched kinetic energy into the shuttle and establishing its reputation as one of the most devastating attacking rackets ever made, with trusted performance across India.

Question 2

Is this racket delivered pre-strung or unstrung?

Accepted Answer

It is supplied unstrung from the manufacturer to let competitive players select their preferred string model and tension. We recommend pairing it with Yonex BG80 or BG65Ti for best value for money and guaranteed quality.

Question 3

What are the recommended safe stringing tensions?

Accepted Answer

Official recommended string tension limits are 20 to 28 lbs for the 4U model and 21 to 29 lbs for the 3U model. Electronic 4-knot stringing within these limits ensures maximum performance and complete satisfaction.

Question 4

How does the full-frame Namd graphite affect feel?

Accepted Answer

By having Namd in both the frame and shaft, the racket holds the shuttle on the stringbed momentarily longer upon impact. This increases shuttle acceleration and produces a uniquely solid, explosive hitting feel.

Question 5

Which weight specification should I choose: 4UG5 or 3UG5?

Accepted Answer

The 4UG5 model (approx. 83 grams) offers superior maneuverability and faster swing speed, while the 3UG5 model (approx. 88 grams) delivers maximum momentum for heavy smash purists.

Question 6

Is the original Astrox 99 approved for BWF tournament competition?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the Yonex Astrox 99 strictly complies with all Badminton World Federation tournament apparatus standards and is authorized for competitive tournaments across India.
